Wash your hair with the Prepare Elumen treatment shampoo. Dry with a dryer. Put on your gloves. Apply the dye as follows: on short hair about 60 ml, on medium length hair about 80 ml, on long hair about 120 ml. Leave to act in heat (climazon): 20 minutes or without heat: 30 minutes. Rinse your hair and wash with Wash Elumen shampoo. Repeat washing if necessary. Dry with a towel. Apply the Lock Elumen color sealing treatment. Leave on for 5 minutes, then rinse. For intensive care and to optimize hair quality and color, finally apply the Treat Elumen treatment. Please be aware that Elumen dye may have adverse effects on certain synthetic hair extensions and on the extension adhesive. Choose an Elumen Hair Color. There are many different colors, including both natural and fashion, that you can choose from. Each color is marked by letter and number combinations that indicate different colors and underlying tones. Some of these color options include:[1] BB@all, which means blue on any hair level (unnatural). NA@2, which means natural ash on a hair level 2 (deep). GB@9, which means gold beige/brown on a hair level 9 (light).[2] Purchase Elumen Hair Color, Elumen Prepare, and Elumen Lock. To correctly dye your hair, you'll need the Elumen Hair Color, which is oxidant-free, ammonia-free, and peroxide-free. You'll also need Elumen Prepare, which improves the color's durability and intensity when applied before dyeing. Finally, you'll need Elumen Lock, which is applied after dyeing to keep the color from washing out over time. You can also purchase Elumen Clean if you want to easily remove dye stains from your skin.[3] Wash and towel dry your hair. To prepare your hair for dyeing, wash it once or twice with your regular shampoo to remove the oil from your hair. Do not use conditioner or blow it dry afterwards with a hair dryer. Instead, dry it partially with a towel.[4]Apply Elumen Prepare to your hair. Squirt some Elumen Prepare into your hands and run your hands through your partially-dried hair. Continue to squirt more in your hand and apply it to your hair until your hair feels uniformly slick. It isn't necessary to drench your hair in the Prepare product.[5]Section your hair. Especially if you have a lot of hair and/or you're dyeing your whole head, it may be a good idea to separate your hair into sections. Use a comb to part your hair straight down the middle and also across your head from one side to the other. At this point, your hair should be divided into four equal sections. Twist and clip each one to ensure that they stay separated.[6]Squirt your Elumen Hair Color into a bowl. You may want to empty the entire contents of the bottle into the bowl if you have long hair and you're dyeing all of it.[7] If you have shorter hair or are just touching up your color, squirt 4 or 5 tablespoons (60-75 mL) into the bowl.[8]Cover your shoulders and your work area to prevent staining. Wear an old t-shirt that you don't care about and/or drape an old towel over your shoulders before applying the color.[9] Also lay out a towel on the counter where you'll be applying the color. This way, you can set your products and materials on top of the towel to avoid staining the countertop.Use your gloved hands or an applicator brush to apply the color. Put on some gloves and unclip one of your front sections of hair. Either reach your gloved hand into the bowl and scoop out a glob of dye, or do so by dipping an applicator brush into the dye. Carefully coat your hair with the color by starting at the roots and working your way out to the tips.[10] When the section is completely covered in dye, move onto the next section. Continue this until the color is applied to all of your hair. Apply carefully so that you don't get the color in your eyes or fling it around the room; it stains fairly easily. If you're dyeing your hair multiple colors and want to keep the colors separate, clip sheets of foil between the differently colored sections. If you're dyeing your hair multiple colors and don't separate them, the colors will blend together, which many find desirable and attractive.[11]Pin up and cover your hair. After you're done applying, use clips to pin up your hair close to your head. Then, cover your hair completely in plastic wrap or with a shower cap.[12]Let the color process for half an hour. Once your hair is covered, leave it alone for about 30 minutes while it processes. The color will process best at room temperature, or 68 degrees fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius).[13] Only let it process for 20 minutes if you're using a hair dryer. Rinse and condition your hair. After half an hour, rinse the color out of your hair with cool water and then apply your regular conditioner. Let the conditioner sit on your hair for about 1 or 2 minutes, and then thoroughly rinse it out with cool water and towel dry your hair.[14]Apply Elumen Lock with your hands. Squirt as much Elumen Lock as will fit into your palm. Use your hands to run the product through your hair and thoroughly coat it all.[15]Wait 5 minutes and then wash and condition your hair. Let Elumen Lock sit on your hair for five minutes so that it can effectively protect your hair color. Then shampoo your hair with your regular shampoo and rinse it out. Condition your hair with your regular conditioner and rinse it out as well.[16] Goldwell makes a shampooing product called Elumen Wash and a conditioning product called Elumen Treat that you may consider purchasing and using for this part of the process.Rub Elumen Clean onto stained skin. Squirt some Elumen Clean on a cotton ball and then rub it onto any skin that's been stained by the dye. If no where else, you'll likely need to apply it to the tops of your ears.[17] Wash your hair once a week to make the color last. While Elumen Hair Color often lasts longer than many other types of hair dyes, exactly how long varies and depends on different factors, such as the particular dye color and the healthiness of your hair. To make your hair color stay rich and vibrant for as long as possible, try to only wash your hair 1-2 times a week. Use dry shampoo in between washes to keep your hair from looking oily and dirty.[18]
